About the Book:
This work by one of the most influential Muslim scholars of this century comes at a time when a host of Islamic terminology has been thrust into the current media coverage about Islam and Muslims. In his inimitable style, Shaykh Yusuf Qaradawi’s ‘Madkhal li-Ma’rifah al-Islam’ attempts to explain Islamic concepts and decipher their meaning in the context of contemporary debates. Divided into five chapters, his explanation of Islamic concepts is compared with current issues and perspectives on Islam. This work is not an attempt to preach to the reader but aims to fill the gaps in one’s understanding of the Islamic worldview.
From The Author:
I sincerely hope that all that I have written herein will be sufficient for a modern-day Muslim, so that they may become familiar with the great realities attached to the Islamic faith and that this book equips them with the right amount of Islamic knowledge so desperately required for a Muslim of our times.
This will enable them to acquaint themselves with the essence of their religion, in a manner which is free from fragmentation, dogmatism, distortion and parody, and one which is safe from the corruption of fanatical Muslims, from the deceptions of the liars and the interpretations of the ignorant.
The book shall also present a true picture of the basics of this religion to those non-muslims who desire to understand Islam, the religion with which Allah chose to send his final book and with which He sent His final Messenger, as a mercy for the whole universe and as an evidence of authority for the whole of humankind.
My accomplishment is only contingent upon the mercy of Allah, in Whom I put all my trust and to Whom I always turn.
